7 Days including travel
Maximum 8 Clients plus staff.
A week long trip through the Saimaa lakes exploring the islands and channels in open canoes. You will explore sites of historical interest and visit paintings over 4,000 years old.
This is a beginner-intermediate level trip with 4-5 hours paddling on some days and a couple of short portages. First timers will find it a rewarding challenge and more experienced trippers a relaxing taste of the wild.
You will have the opportunity to practice bushcraft skills with experienced instructors, carve a spoon by the lake, go fishing* and take stunning photographs. The trip is fully catered with good food cooked over the fire.
You will be driven from the airport to Mikelli where your first night will be spent in a nature cabin.
The trip does not include flights. Itinerary may vary depending on weather conditions,
group size and ability. *Fishing licence may be required.
Trip Prerequisits:
- You must be a confident swimmer minimum 50m.
What’s included:
- Transport from Helsinki Airport to the lake.
- 2 Nights accommodation in Piennemi Taiga Cabins.
- All Canoeing Equipment. Canoe, Buoyancy Aid, Paddle and Barrel
- All meals once we are at the Lake.
- 2 members of the Forestknights team will lead the trip.
- Return transport to Helsinki airport.
What’s not included:
- Flights.
- Meal whilst travelling to and from Helsinki Airport. We stop in a cafe- restaurant. Approx cost €20-25pp depending on your selection. The food is very good value.
- Personal snacks for the duration of the trip. Whilst we never knowingly under cater it’s nice to have a nibble in the canoe or in camp.
- Alcohol
You will require:
- Your usual camping equipement. (see our Kit List).
- Dry Bags.
- Personal First Aid Kit
- European Health Card.
All canoeing equipment will be supplied including Buoyancy Aid, Paddles and a Barrel.
