Introduction to campfire cookery.
Our Campfire cookery course is designed to for the novice outdoor chef. You will learn the skills necessary to create wonderfully tasty and nutritious meals that any professional chef would be proud of.
Hygiene. Working in the outdoor kitchen doesn’t mean we should compromise our standards of safety. Learn how to store food and keep your kitchen free from bugs.
Tool Use The core of all our courses is to focus on safety and the most efficient way to use tools. The main tool of the chef in the kitchen is a knife. Using a knife safely and skilfully gives you confidence and saves you time.
Fire Management. Building on your increased skills with the knife and axe we will discuss and demonstrate the most effective fire lays for the meals you will create. Learn how to control the heat of your fire and when to add more material or reduce the temperature.
Eating well in the outdoors is at the heart of the Forest Knights philosophy after a long day enjoying the best of the great outdoors what can be better than watching the sun go down eating a feast you have prepared yourself.
Throughout the day your confidence will grow as you learn the skills and tips we use to cater for our groups on expeditions. Creating restaurant quality food in the outdoors is simple when you understand the basic skills. You will only be limited by your ambition.
During the day we use a variety of cast iron pots such as Dutch Ovens and skillets to produce a range of dishes from hearty stews, roasts and fresh breads and pastries.
